Our Process
-
HAIR
We require a slicked back low ponytail. Please make sure hair ties match the color of the dancer’s hair. We recommend hairspray, gel, and/or wax sticks to get those fly aways down!
Pro Tip: Use a boar bristle brush or toothbrush for an extra smooth pony!
-
MAKEUP
As stage lights have a tendency to erase all facial features, we recommend at least a little bit of makeup. We recommend concealer, blush, bronzer, medium dark brown eyeshadows (at least in the crease of the eye), and mascara / fake eyelashes. We do require red lipstick and recommend a deeper red (for example, Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Liquid Lipstick - 55 Royal)
Pro Tip: For our fairer girls, you may consider fake tan since stage light can make pale skin glow (speaking from experience)
-
JEWELRY
We generally stick with crystal AB earrings, which will be provided at the same time as costumes. We do not require hair pieces or necklaces for any of our costumes. Permanent jewelry is fine as long as it is relatively small.
Pro Tip: If you have trouble putting in earrings, try putting a little Vaseline on the end of the post. This should make it slide through easier and cause less irritation.
-
OTHER
We do not wear tights under costumes, so we have some undergarment recommendations. Starting with the option that has the most coverage, nude leotards are perfectly fine for under costumes. Dancers can also wear nude bras and underwear of whatever coverage they are comfortable with. We recommend dancers use body adhesive or fashion tape to keep costumes in place on stage!
Pro Tip: Seamless undergarments tend to work the best under costumes.
